Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has stated that Pakistan remains a peace-loving country and priorities regional stability. However, he warned that any future misadventure by India would be met with a stronger and more decisive response than before.
The statement came during an interaction with students from various universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where matters of national security, regional threats, and unity were discussed in depth.
“India assumed Pakistan would not respond to its aggression, but the entire nation stood united,” the DG ISPR said. “By the grace of God, we formed an iron wall. Every single strategic calculation made by India and the Modi government was proven wrong.”
General Ahmed Sharif revealed that under the direction of Field Marshal General Asim Munir, Pakistan retaliated by targeting 26 Indian military positions, including the destruction of the brigade headquarters responsible for the shelling that killed seven-year-old Irtaza in Muzaffarabad.
He further disclosed that on May 6 and 7, the airbases used by Indian aircraft were also struck. “Despite the scale of our response, Pakistan did not target any civilian infrastructure or non-combatant population,” he added. “That is the difference, we choose peace first, but we are fully capable of responding with force when required.”
The army spokesperson accused India of being the driving force behind terrorism in the region, stating that most of the terror incidents in Pakistan and the broader region bear Indian fingerprints. “This terrorism is not indigenous, it is externally orchestrated, funded, and facilitated by Indian intelligence,” he noted.
He strongly condemned militant groups that target places of worship and civilians, emphasising that such individuals have no connection to Islam or to the traditions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Referring to statements made by militant leaders such as Noor Wali, General Chaudhry said, “Those who seek assistance from India, a state that has oppressed Kashmiri Muslims and violated their dignity, stand against everything Islam represents.”
Speaking about Afghanistan, DG ISPR said Pakistan views the Afghan people as brothers, but added, “The problem lies with a segment of the Afghan elite who are being influenced and financially backed by India to act against Pakistan.”
He appealed to the Afghan leadership not to allow their soil to be used as a staging ground for terrorism, urging them not to become proxies for Indian interests.
Addressing the students directly, he concluded: “To the proud and brave people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its tribal areas: the time has come again, Kashmir will become Pakistan.”
