Ceasefire with India Expected to Hold as Military Hotline Remains Active, Says DG ISPR

Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has expressed hope that the ceasefire between Pakistan and India will continue, affirming that the military hotline between the two countries remains active.

In an interview with an American publication, the Pakistani military spokesperson stated, “We expect the Pakistan-India ceasefire to hold, and communication through the hotline is ongoing.” He noted that even after four days of missile and aerial strikes, senior military officials from both sides maintained contact via the hotline, which has helped sustain stability along the border. Pakistan has remained transparent regarding casualties and damages resulting from Indian aggression, and he expressed hope that India has shown similar openness.

Interview with Turkish News Agency

In a separate interview with a Turkish news agency, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry highlighted that Pakistan remains the country most affected by terrorism globally. “Since January 2024, there have been over 3,700 terrorist incidents in Pakistan. India is actively sponsoring and encouraging this terrorism,” he said.

“Over the past 17 months, 3,896 individuals have lost their lives in these attacks, including 2,582 civilians and security personnel,” he added.

“India is not Israel, and Pakistan is not Palestine”: DG ISPR

The DG ISPR underscored that Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute and cannot be reduced to an internal issue of India. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace but warned that any provocation or aggression from India would be met with a swift and decisive response.

“We are a peace-loving nation, but if provoked, our reaction will be immediate. The fact remains: India is not the United States, and Pakistan is not Afghanistan; India is not Israel, and Pakistan is not Palestine. Pakistan will never bow to Indian hegemony,” he said.

He added that it is in India’s own interest—and in the interest of regional and global peace—to understand this reality sooner rather than later.

Lieutenant General Chaudhry pointed out that India has failed to provide any evidence in connection to the recent Pahalgam incident, and is instead exploiting such events as a pretext for its broader anti-Pakistan narrative.

Pakistan Downed Five Indian Warplanes, Including Three Rafales

The DG ISPR further revealed that during the recent spike in hostilities, Pakistan shot down five Indian warplanes, including three Rafale jets. “The world knows that Pakistan brought down Indian aircraft, but New Delhi refuses to acknowledge this truth,” he said.

He also referenced the Balochistan Liberation Army’s (BLA) public plea for support from India and highlighted statements made by Indian politicians, retired generals, and other figures openly endorsing the group. He cited the attack on the Jaffar Express as an example of India-backed terrorism on Pakistani soil.

“The evidence is clear and undeniable,” he concluded.
