Twelve Pakistani soldiers who embraced martyrdom while defending the homeland against Afghan aggression were laid to rest on Monday in a solemn ceremony held at Chaklala Garrison, Rawalpindi.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir led the funeral prayers, paying tribute to the fallen soldiers alongside senior military leadership, federal ministers, Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and a large gathering of civil and military officials as well as members of the public.
The funeral was marked by deep emotion and national solidarity, with hundreds in attendance to honour the supreme sacrifice of the troops who lost their lives in a recent cross-border attack originating from Afghan territory.
Addressing the gathering, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif praised the courage and commitment of the martyrs, stating that the nation owes a debt of gratitude to its brave sons. “They laid down their lives in the face of Afghan Taliban aggression. Their sacrifice will not go in vain,” he said.
He further added that the soldiers stood firm against Indian-backed terrorist aggression, and that the armed forces remain fully prepared to respond to any form of hostility or conspiracy against Pakistan.
The Defence Minister reaffirmed that the country’s security forces are unwavering in their resolve and will continue to defend the nation’s sovereignty at all costs.
The funeral served not only as a moment of mourning but also as a powerful expression of unity, a reminder that the sacrifices of Pakistan’s defenders continue to uphold the peace, dignity, and resilience of the nation.
