The so-called American foreign policy expert, and former United States Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Zalmay Khalilzad; arguably labelled by Fawzia Koofi, former member of Afghanistan’s House of Representatives, as the representative of Afghan Taliban only, is perhaps the most dim-witted and shallow diplomat among former Afghan-origin American officials. Or it may simply be that his hostility toward Pakistan blinds him to the point that he uncritically promotes any anti-Pakistan narrative, whether it comes from India, Israel, or the India–Taliban partnership, no matter how baseless the allegations may be. He continues sharing such claims on social media without a moment of thought, despite having faced repeated embarrassment.
Once again, a Taliban propaganda account running in the name of Tajikistan’s intelligence chief fooled him completely. With his eyes covered yet again, he treated the fake tweet as factual and shared it, only to quietly delete it later and fall completely silent. That is the true measure of his so-called “smartness.”
The most shameful part is that despite making childish and malicious claims without any proof, he has never apologised or expressed any regret. Not before and not now. Earlier, he claimed that three thousand Daesh fighters were being trained inside Pakistan, and he had to delete that tweet as well. Yet even saying he felt embarrassed would be inaccurate, because such capacity is clearly missing from his nature.
This self-styled diplomat of the United States appears willing to shake hands with his lifelong enemies, the Taliban, only because our ungrateful neighbours have now become his companions in the same anti-Pakistan chorus. Their words make him as excited as an inexperienced boy, although not a single excitement has ever sweetened his mouth. Every time he has only ended up licking back what he spit out.
Just yesterday he repeated the same childish behaviour in another X post, claiming that unknown individuals had killed an IS-KP commander named Burhan in Akhtarabad, Punjab, a claim categorically rejected by the DPO Okara. In reality, Burhan was a security guard who was murdered during a personal dispute. The FIR lodged by his son-in-law confirms that the incident took place in March 2025.
Despite this long list of blunders, humiliations and repeated backtracking, this so-called prodigy Zalmay Khalilzad held several official positions in the United States. Truly astonishing.
