In a strong show of unity against extremist violence, the people of North Waziristan have reaffirmed their support for Pakistan’s security forces in the fight against the Fitna al-Khawarij (the banned TTP).
A significant jirga (tribal council) was held today in Tehsil Mir Ali, bringing together the local Brigade Commander, Assistant Commissioner, tribal elders, and respected community leaders. The participants expressed grave concern over the recent activities of khawarij and unanimously agreed on key measures to counter the threat.
The jirga resolved that khawarij must be kept out of populated areas, and emphasized the protection of civilians as the top priority. The tribal elders pledged full cooperation with security forces to ensure lasting peace in the region.
Speakers at the jirga condemned khawarij, stating that they neither represent religion nor the values of Pashtun tradition. “Their agenda is violence, fear, and chaos, nothing more,” said one of the elders.
The gathering sent a clear message: the people of Waziristan reject terrorism in all its forms and stand shoulder to shoulder with security forces in the pursuit of peace, education, and progress.
This jirga marks a vital step in strengthening civil-military cooperation and restoring normalcy to a region long plagued by violence.
