Wanted Khawarij Commander Killed in Spin Wam Operation as Security Forces Dismantle Terror Network

In a major breakthrough under ongoing counterterrorism efforts, Pakistan’s security forces successfully eliminated a highly wanted Khawarij commander along with four other terrorists during a carefully coordinated intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Spin Wam area of North Waziristan, according to security sources.

The operation targeted hideouts linked to the banned extremist network referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij.” Among those killed was the group’s key commander, identified as Khariji Umar alias Jan Mir alias Tor Saqib, who had long been on the radar of law enforcement and intelligence agencies for masterminding multiple deadly terrorist attacks against security personnel and civilians.

Security officials confirmed that the Khawarij commander carried a government-announced bounty of Rs. 3 million due to his involvement in high-profile acts of terrorism and anti-state activities across the region.

According to security sources, the operation was launched following credible intelligence regarding the presence of heavily armed Khawarij operating from concealed positions near the Bobali Mosque area in Spin Wam. During the operation, security forces discovered that the terrorists had established an elaborate underground network consisting of fortified bunkers, tunnels, and explosive traps designed to resist military advances and inflict casualties on advancing troops.

Despite the difficult terrain and heavily defended positions, security forces executed a coordinated strategy, successfully surrounding and neutralizing the Khawarij after an intense exchange of fire. Officials described the operation as a significant tactical success that dealt a major blow to terrorist infrastructure in the region.

Security analysts believe the elimination of the Khawarij commander will substantially weaken the operational capabilities of extremist elements in North Waziristan and contribute toward improving the overall security environment in the area.

Experts further stated that the successful targeting of senior Khawarij leadership demonstrates the growing effectiveness of intelligence-led counterterrorism operations being carried out under the broader framework of Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.

Authorities reiterated that operations against extremist organizations, including groups involved in cross-border terrorism and anti-state violence, will continue with full force until complete peace and stability are restored.

The security establishment reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to eliminating terrorism in all its forms and ensuring that no terrorist network is allowed to threaten national security, public safety, or regional peace.

Officials praised the professionalism, courage, and operational preparedness of the security forces involved in the mission, emphasizing that sacrifices made in the fight against terrorism will not go in vain.

The successful operation in Spin Wam marks another major step in Pakistan’s ongoing campaign to dismantle terrorist safe havens and restore lasting peace to the tribal districts and adjoining regions.
