United Against Extremism: Military, Ulema Join Hands in DI Khan

A conclave of esteemed Ulema and Mashaikh from Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, and Tank districts convened in a Grand Jirga, fostering a collective endeavor to fortify cooperation between law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and local communities in the face of prevailing security challenges.

In a meaningful deliberation with the General Officer Commanding (GOC) AL BARQ Division, the clerics and tribal leaders underscored the imperative of a unified stance against extremism, specifically targeting the menace of ‘Fitna Al Khawarij’ (FAK). They pledged unequivocal support for Pakistan and the Pakistan Army, committing to play a constructive role in promoting peace, unity, and communal harmony.

The GOC emphatically urged the Ulema to safeguard mosques from being exploited as hideouts by extremist groups, cautioning that facilitators would face stringent legal repercussions.

The gathering highlighted a seminal fatwa issued by over 1450 Ulema in Pakistan, unequivocally condemning Khawarij as antithetical to Islamic teachings.

The Jirga culminated in a unanimous resolve to bolster community resilience, foster state-society synergy, and counter extremism and terrorism through collaborative efforts.

This historic gathering sent a powerful message of unity between the Ulema and the armed forces, marking a significant step towards promoting peace and stability in the region.
