Two Traffic Policemen Martyred in Lakki Marwat Ambush

In a tragic incident, two traffic police personnel were martyred when unidentified assailants opened fire on them along the Loni Khel Road, in what officials described as a targeted attack. The fallen officers, identified as Israel and Sanaullah both residents of the Loni Khel area were reportedly on their way to Taja Zai Adda to assume duty when the ambush occurred near Gulbaz Dhakkan. According to initial reports, the attackers, riding a motorcycle, intercepted the policemen and opened indiscriminate fire, killing both on the spot.

“The policemen were on official duty and travelling on a motorcycle when they were targeted in a brazen act of terrorism. After committing the crime, the gunmen also made away with the official weapons of the slain officers,” said a senior police official on condition of anonymity.

Soon after the incident, police and law enforcement agencies reached the scene, cordoned off the area, and launched a search operation to trace the perpetrators. Forensic teams were also dispatched to collect evidence from the site.

District Police Officer (DPO) Lakki Marwat strongly condemned the attack and vowed that the culprits would be brought to justice. “This is not just an attack on our personnel, but on the peace and stability of the entire region,” he stated.

The bodies of the martyred officers were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem, and a case has been registered against unknown assailants.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

The tragic incident has sparked concern among local residents and prompted calls for enhanced security measures for frontline police officers, particularly in vulnerable areas.
