In a brazen act of terrorism, a powerful explosion struck near Shakai Stand in Wana Bazaar, South Waziristan, martyring two police personnel and injuring several others, including civilians and law enforcement officials. According to security officials, the attack appeared to target a police van as it moved through the busy market area. The blast, described as intense and well-coordinated, was followed by a volley of gunfire, plunging the area into panic.
Rescue teams and security forces rushed to the scene, swiftly launching a relief and containment operation. The injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Wana, where medical staff confirmed that several victims sustained critical injuries.
Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. Bomb disposal squads have begun examining the site to determine the type and composition of the explosive used. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. However, security sources suspect the involvement of militants seeking to undermine stability in the tribal districts.
Senior officials condemned the attack in the strongest terms, praising the courage and sacrifice of the fallen officers. “This cowardly assault on our police force will not weaken our resolve. The blood of our martyrs strengthens our commitment to eliminate terrorism,” a senior law enforcement official said. A security alert has been issued across the region as investigations continue into the perpetrators and possible facilitators of the blast.
