Two police personnel were martyred on Tuesday when unidentified gunmen opened fire in the Machan Khel Adda area of Lakki Marwat, police officials confirmed. According to a police spokesman, the officers were on their way from Begu Khel village to report for duty when they came under sudden attack. The assailants sprayed bullets at them, killing both policemen on the spot.
The attackers managed to flee after the assault, while the bodies of the martyred officials were shifted to City Hospital. Heavy contingents of police later reached the site, launching a search operation to track down the perpetrators. Police officials said the incident reflects the continuing challenges faced by law enforcement personnel in the region, where targeted attacks have intensified in recent months.
