A high-intensity gun battle erupted between police and wanted fugitives near the Muslimabad police check post on the Indus Highway in Kohat, resulting in the death of two Khawarij notorious on Friday.
According to police sources, the confrontation occurred when law enforcement officials intercepted suspected individuals believed to be involved in multiple heinous crimes and aiding terrorist networks. The suspects opened fire on the police near the Muslimabad check post, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire.
During the encounter, one of the wanted men, identified as Shahzaib, was killed on the spot, while the second, Khan Muhammad, sustained critical injuries and later succumbed at the hospital. Both individuals were on the police’s most-wanted list due to their involvement in serious criminal activities, including facilitating terrorist operations and disturbing the law and order in the region.
“These Khawarij were not just wanted for past offenses but were active facilitators of terrorism and a direct threat to public safety,” a senior police official stated.
Following the deadly encounter, security forces launched an intensive search operation in the surrounding mountainous terrain of Muslimabad to trace any possible hideouts or accomplices connected to the fugitives.
The successful operation marks a significant blow to criminal and terrorist facilitators in the Kohat region, reinforcing law enforcement’s commitment to ensuring peace and stability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.Authorities have vowed to continue intelligence-based operations to dismantle any remaining networks operating in the area. The bodies of the deceased have been shifted for postmortem examination, and an FIR has been registered.
