Security forces have killed two more terrorists and arrested two others during the ongoing joint operation in Nurar, a locality under the jurisdiction of Miryan Police Station. The latest action brings the total number of terrorists killed in today’s encounters to at least three, as forces continue clearing the area of militant presence.
The operation—being jointly led by the Pakistan Army, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and police, has entered a decisive phase, with a strict curfew still in place and a comprehensive search underway for remaining terrorists believed to be hiding in the area.
The fresh action comes just after a drone attack on the Miryan Police Station, where terrorists used a quad-copter to drop explosives, injuring six security personnel, including two army soldiers, three CTD officials, and a local police constable. The attack is the latest in a series of drone-based assaults on the same station over the past month, underlining the growing use of aerial tactics by Khawarij in the region.
The Nurar locality has been a focal point of concern in recent days, especially after 200–250 armed militants infiltrated the area, reportedly taking cover in mosques, houses, and civilian structures, attempting to use the local population as human shields. Swift action by security forces forced many of them to flee.
Earlier in the operation, security personnel neutralized a terrorist disguised in a burqa and demolished the residence of a known Khariji commander. Today’s arrests and eliminations are part of the same ongoing push to clear the area completely.
Security sources say the joint operation will continue until every last militant is captured or eliminated, with extensive intelligence and ground coordination underway.
This operation runs parallel to the ongoing Operation Sarbakaf in Bajaur, where 22 to 23 militants have been killed since July 29. Both offensives reflect an intensified national effort to dismantle terrorist infrastructure across Pakistan’s sensitive tribal belt.
