Two Killed, Three Injured in Hand Grenade Explosion in Lower Dir

At least two people were killed and three others sustained critical injuries in a powerful blast caused by a hand grenade at a scrap warehouse in the Khaall Market area of Lower Dir district, rescue officials confirmed. According to the spokesperson for Rescue 1122 Lower Dir, the explosion occurred inside a junk warehouse under unclear circumstances. A rescue operation was launched immediately after the incident, with emergency teams rushing to the site to provide first aid and evacuate the injured.

All five affected individuals were initially transported to the Rural Health Centre (RHC) in Khaall. Rescue officials later confirmed that three of the victims succumbed to their injuries, while the two critically wounded were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Timergara for advanced treatment via Rescue 1122 ambulances.

The cause of the explosion was determined to be a hand grenade that was present among the scrap materials. Authorities are investigating how the explosive device ended up in the warehouse.

Rescue 1122 teams swiftly responded to the emergency, and their spokesperson reiterated the importance of immediate reporting of any suspicious materials in scrap yards to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
