Two Khawarij Killed in Lakki Marwat as Police Foil Attack

Two Khawarij were killed and several others injured when police and peace committee members repulsed an armed attack in the jurisdiction of Ghazni Khel Police Station at Pahar Khel Pakka, officials said on Friday. A police spokesperson said that heavy gunfire erupted during the operation in which both sides used sophisticated weapons. The slain and injured Khawarij were taken away by their accomplices under the cover of darkness.

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Elite Force Commandos, and the Al-Burraq Squad took part in the operation, while drones and armoured personnel carriers were deployed to ensure real-time surveillance and security of the area. The spokesperson added that the coordinated response prevented the Khawarij from inflicting greater damage, underlining the improved operational capacity of the police and allied forces in the region.

Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Regional Police Officer Bannu lauded the bravery and professionalism of Lakki Marwat police for successfully countering the Khawarij and reaffirmed the force’s resolve to continue operations until peace is fully restored.
