Two Khawarij Killed in Foiled Attack on Police Checkpost in Charsadda

Two armed militants belonging to the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)  widely condemned as Khawarij  were gunned down in a swift and decisive response by police after they attempted to launch an armed assault on a checkpost in Charsadda’s Konra Colony area on Sunday. According to police officials, a patrol unit from Sarokalay Police Station was conducting routine surveillance when they signaled a suspicious motorcycle to stop. The riders, however, opened unprovoked fire on the police party, prompting an immediate and forceful response under the right of self-defense.

Both Khawarij were neutralized on the spot before they could inflict harm. The police recovered a cache of weapons and explosives from their possession, including a Kalashnikov rifle, three hand grenades, two pistols, a motorcycle, and a bag possibly containing further material intended for sabotage.

The Khawarij were identified as Jawad from Mathra an Shakirullah from Khyber.

Preliminary investigations confirm that the slain attackers were affiliated with the outlawed TTP network. The identification process of the deceased is currently underway, while a full-scale search and clearance operation has been launched in the surrounding areas to eliminate any remaining threat.

Commending the alertness and bravery of the police personnel, senior officials stated that the attempt to disrupt peace was thwarted by the force’s professionalism and readiness. “The Khawarij aim to destabilize our society through fear and violence, but our resolve is clear — there will be zero tolerance for such enemies of peace,” said a police spokesperson.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the persistent threat posed by extremist elements and the unflinching determination of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police to protect the province from the scourge of militancy.
