At least five people, including three government employees and two civilians, were killed in two separate terrorist attacks in Dera Ismail Khan, while two police personnel sustained injuries, according to police officials.
The two incidents occurred at separate locations within the jurisdictions of Sadar Police Station and University Police Station, prompting an immediate response from police and other law-enforcement agencies. The first incident took place at the Bypass area within the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station, where armed attackers opened fire on a Highway Police mobile vehicle. According to police, the attack resulted in the death of the vehicle’s driver. Two other police personnel, including the mobile unit’s in-charge Subhan, were injured in the firing.
The injured personnel were shifted for medical treatment, while law-enforcement agencies immediately cordoned off the area following the attack.
The second incident occurred near Abhaya Wala Bridge, within the jurisdiction of University Police Station, where FBR officials were present at a petrol station. Police said armed attackers opened fire at the petrol station, killing two Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials and two civilians. The attack resulted in significant casualties and prompted a rapid security response in the surrounding area.
Following both incidents, police and other law-enforcement agencies reached the respective crime scenes and established security cordons. Investigators began collecting evidence from the locations, while search operations were initiated to trace and apprehend those responsible for the attacks. Authorities are also gathering information regarding the identities, movements and possible affiliations of the attackers, as well as examining the circumstances surrounding both incidents.
The back-to-back attacks have prompted heightened security measures across the affected areas of Dera Ismail Khan. Police and other relevant law-enforcement agencies are conducting investigations at both crime scenes and coordinating efforts to identify the perpetrators.
Forensic and investigative teams are examining available evidence, while authorities are working to determine whether the two incidents were connected or carried out independently.
