Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has reaffirmed his country’s unwavering support for Pakistan amid recent tensions with India, praising Islamabad’s measured response and diplomatic restraint.
Speaking during a cabinet meeting in Ankara, President Erdoğan welcomed the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India, expressing relief at the de-escalation of what he described as a dangerously volatile situation.
“We made our stance clear regarding the terror attack in Kashmir and the missile strikes on Pakistan,” Erdoğan said, adding that Turkey worked tirelessly to ease tensions between the two South Asian nuclear-armed neighbours.

The Turkish leader also revealed that he held a phone conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in which he extended congratulations to the Pakistani people for their patience and wisdom during the crisis.
“Turkey stands with the people of Pakistan through their good times and hardships,” Erdoğan emphasized, reiterating the deep historical and fraternal ties between the two nations.
Cautioning against provocation, the Turkish president advised Pakistan to avoid getting drawn into any escalation, and expressed hope that the current calm would pave the way for resolving critical issues, especially water disputes.
Erdoğan’s statement comes at a time when regional peace remains fragile, but his remarks have been received positively in Islamabad, further cementing Turkey’s role as a key diplomatic ally in the region.
