In a serious escalation, the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)—declared a Khawarij insurgent group by the state—has issued direct threats to the officers and employees of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), demanding extortion under the guise of “commission” within a three-day deadline.
The threats, disseminated through social media using the TTP’s official letterhead, warned of grave consequences—specifically targeting the lives and property of company personnel—should the demand go unmet. The message leaves no ambiguity, explicitly stating that non-compliance will result in serious reprisals.
The alarming development has prompted an immediate and high-level response from state institutions. Intelligence and security agencies have launched a coordinated investigation, while instructions have been issued for swift and decisive action against the perpetrators.
Security around OGDCL and SNGPL staff has been significantly tightened, with reinforced protocols at critical infrastructure sites. Social media platforms are under active surveillance to track digital footprints of the threat, and intelligence-led operations are being planned in areas deemed vulnerable to militant activity.
A senior security official confirmed that the threat is being treated with utmost seriousness and assured that the state remains fully committed to protecting its national institutions and personnel from such acts of terrorism.
Efforts are underway to trace the origin of the message, identify facilitators, and prevent any attempt by militant elements to disrupt national energy operations through fear or coercion.
