TTP Chief Allegedly Hiding Inside Kabul’s Diplomatic Enclave

According to a story published in The News International today that some credible security sources have indicated that Noor Wali Mehsud, the head of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), is currently being harbored within a highly secured area of Kabul under the protection of Afghan Taliban authorities.

According to the sources, Mehsud is allegedly residing in a multi-story building located inside Kabul’s heavily fortified Green Zone also referred to as the Diplomatic Enclave which hosts key government institutions and foreign diplomatic missions. The enclave is widely regarded as one of the most secure and closely monitored areas in Kabul.

Officials familiar with the matter describe the development as deeply concerning, citing indications that the presence of additional occupants within the building may be serving as a deterrent against any potential targeted action. The use of such arrangements, if confirmed, raises serious humanitarian and security implications, particularly regarding the safety of civilians in high-risk zones.

Security analysts and officials have expressed alarm over what they characterize as the continued provision of safe haven to proscribed militant elements by the Afghan Taliban administration. They warn that such developments could further complicate regional security dynamics and undermine ongoing counterterrorism efforts.

While there has been no official confirmation or response from Afghan authorities regarding these claims, the reported presence of a high-profile TTP leader in a sensitive and strategically significant location is expected to intensify scrutiny from regional stakeholders and the international community.

Pakistan has consistently voiced concerns over cross-border militancy and has called for decisive action against groups that threaten its security. Officials reiterate that sustained cooperation and verifiable measures are essential to addressing terrorism and ensuring long-term regional stability.
