A series of violent incidents today in Balochistan targeted both law enforcement and civilians, with triple attacks reported from Quetta and Kalat districts.
In Quetta, militants, reportedly affiliated with the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) – a group designated by the U.S. as a foreign terrorist organisation (FTO) – launched a grenade attack on a police vehicle near Zarin Kaley on Sibi Road in the New Saryab area. The blast resulted in the death of one passerby and left another injured. Police quickly cordoned off the area, and investigations into the attack are ongoing.
On Sabzal Road, near Balochistan University, a second grenade was discovered close to another police vehicle. Authorities immediately sealed off the road to traffic and called in the Bomb Disposal Squad to safely neutralize the device. Investigations are underway to determine whether the two attacks are connected.
In Kalat district, a shooting unfolded in the Johar Tehsil area of Narmak, where unidentified gunmen opened fire on a Levis patrol. One officer, identified as Bhallo Khan, son of Gadai from Narmak, was killed. After the necessary procedures, his body was handed over to his family.
These triple attacks underscore the ongoing security challenges faced by law enforcement in Balochistan, with authorities working tirelessly to neutralise threats and safeguard both civilians and officers in the region.
