Under the auspices of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, a series of regional jirgas focusing on law and order continued today with the fourth and final consultative jirga held at the Chief Minister’s House.
The jirga brought together a large gathering of tribal elders from Upper, Central, and Lower Kurram, representatives of political parties, as well as relevant members of the provincial and national assemblies.
Chief Minister’s Advisor Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Senator Noorul Haq Qadri, Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, along with the respective Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and senior police officials, also participated in the jirga.
Jirga Recommendations:
The jirga lauded the Chief Minister for organizing tribal assemblies aimed at restoring peace and security in the region.
The participants expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister and the provincial government for initiating a peaceful resolution of Kurram’s challenges and for announcing a special development package for the area.
Appreciation was also extended for launching helicopter services during difficult times, which significantly assisted the local population.
The jirga acknowledged that thanks to the Chief Minister’s dedicated efforts, peace has been restored in Kurram, emphasizing the need to sustain this stability.
Tribal elders from both Sunni and Shia communities reiterated their unity in preserving peace and pledged full cooperation with the government.
The jirga underscored that peace is a fundamental necessity; only with peace can progress be achieved.
Participants unanimously condemned all forms of terrorism and affirmed their commitment to stand with the government in maintaining law and order.
To achieve a lasting solution, the jirga recommended the formation of a powerful, representative jirga including federal and provincial governments, security agencies, and local elders to engage in dialogue with Afghan authorities, recognizing that the peace of Kurram is closely linked to Afghanistan.
The jirga also urged the opening of trade routes with Afghanistan to create employment opportunities for the people of the region.
The Chief Minister’s House reiterated its commitment to ensuring the durable peace and socio-economic development of Kurram through inclusive dialogue and collaborative governance.
