A major railway tragedy was narrowly averted on Thursday when an explosion occurred near the railway track in Dingra, just moments after the Bolan Mail had passed through the area. The blast partially damaged Coach No. 7, but no casualties were reported, according to initial reports from railway and security officials.
Railway authorities confirmed that the explosive device detonated after the Bolan Mail had crossed the targeted section of the track, sparing passengers from a potentially catastrophic outcome.
In response to the blast, Jaffar Express, which was en route from Punjab, was halted at Dera Murad Jamali, while the outbound Quetta-bound Jaffar Express was ordered to stop at Sibi as a precaution.
Train operations were suspended across the affected section, and the area was swiftly cordoned off by security forces. A railway technical team was dispatched to the site to assess damage and conduct repairs.
“Train services will resume once clearance is given by security and engineering teams,” a Railway official stated. Investigations are ongoing to determine the nature of the explosive device and the perpetrators behind the act.
This latest incident raises concerns over the growing threat to national rail infrastructure, especially in restive areas like Balochistan, where insurgent groups have previously targeted transport and energy networks.
