In a major counter-terrorism breakthrough, security forces have eliminated a high-ranking commander of the banned militant outfit Fitna al-Khawarij during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in South Waziristan.
According to official sources, the operation was conducted in the Ladha subdivision, where Zabiullah Zalmay, also known by the alias Zakiran, was killed. Zakiran was a former coordinator of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) and had long been on the list of most-wanted terrorists.
Linked to several acts of sabotage and violence, Zakiran played a key role within the Fitna al-Khawarij terror network, which has been declared an enemy of the state. His death is being seen as a significant blow to the group’s operational capabilities in the region.
Security officials lauded the operation as a reflection of the armed forces’ unwavering commitment and professional excellence in protecting the peace and sovereignty of Pakistan. The mission underscores the resolve to neutralise every threat targeting the nation’s stability.
