In a major counter-terror breakthrough, Sindh Rangers and Sindh Police, acting on precise intelligence, arrested a high-value operative of a banned Baloch militant organization during a joint raid in Lyari. The suspect, identified as Darvesh alias Sagar, has made sensational confessions, exposing a deep-rooted terror facilitation network spanning Karachi and Balochistan.
According to an official spokesperson, the accused, a resident of Sargwaad in Lyari, initially joined the Baloch Students Organization-Azad (BSO-A) in 2015. By 2018, he had become an active member of a militant cell run by Farooq Baloch, a senior commander of the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). During interrogation, Darvesh confessed to facilitating operations for both the BLA and the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), working closely with known militants Farooq Baloch and Majeed alias Baba.
The most alarming revelation came when Darvesh admitted to being a frontman for Hayyam Baloch, a prominent activist in the Baloch missing persons campaign. He disclosed his direct involvement in the ideological grooming and operational facilitation of Mahel Baloch — a female suicide bomber. Investigators say this signals a dangerous shift in militant recruitment and tactics.
The accused also confessed to arranging medical treatment and safe houses for injured Baloch militants, operating as a key enabler of the banned outfits’ logistical network. He further named several accomplices — including Farooq Baloch, Majeed alias Baba, Faraz alias Ganj, Nasir Zakri, and Shehzad Zakri — who have been actively involved in multiple terror attacks targeting security forces in both Karachi and Balochistan.
Two of his close associates, Parvez Zakri and Zafar alias Mama, were killed during an armed encounter with security forces following their involvement in the deadly Jaafar Express train bombing.
In addition, Darvesh admitted to receiving funds through illegal hawala/hundi channels and distributing them among various banned Baloch militant groups. He also played a central role in managing anti-state propaganda campaigns across social media platforms, aiming to incite unrest and undermine national institutions.
The arrested militant was found in possession of arms and ammunition and has been handed over to police for further legal action. Authorities say the arrest has dealt a serious blow to the operational and financial capabilities of banned separatist groups operating in urban Sindh.
