The district administration of Khyber District has confirmed the successful completion of the first phase and the formal commencement of the second phase of relief and assistance for families displaced from the Tirah Valley region, specifically the area of Maidan.
During the initial phase, a total of 30,945 families were safely relocated from Maidan. The administration ensured that all affected families were registered, and payments were made to cover transportation costs, facilitating secure and orderly relocation. Officials emphasized that the process was meticulously managed to prioritize the safety and dignity of displaced households.
From 12 February to 16 February, authorities conducted a thorough scrutiny and verification process for the relocated families. This step was designed to ensure the accuracy of data, maintain transparency, and guarantee that financial aid was distributed fairly among those in genuine need.
Following the successful verification, the second phase of the relief program officially commenced, focusing on timely financial assistance for displaced families. To date, 1,978 families have received PKR 250,000 each via mobile money transfers. Remaining eligible families are being assisted in a phased manner to ensure full coverage.
Officials noted that the overall relocation operation began on 10 January and continued until 11 February. The second phase places special emphasis on the timely disbursement of aid and thorough verification to ensure that all deserving families receive the support they need.
The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to providing continuous support to displaced communities, ensuring both safety during relocation and equitable financial assistance. Authorities are also coordinating closely with relevant agencies to address the ongoing needs of the affected population and maintain accountability throughout the process.
