Three Workers Abducted After Attack on Barkhan Construction Site

Barkhan, Balochistan, Security Forces

Security conditions in Barkhan deteriorated again after unidentified armed men launched a late-night attack on a crushing plant located in a remote area of the district.

According to local authorities, the attackers first opened fire at the site, where they abducted three laborers belonging to Musakhel who were working at the facility on a daily wage basis.

Police sources said the armed group also attacked a nearby police checkpoint, disarming three personnel and taking official weapons before fleeing the scene.

The assault caused partial damage to machinery at the construction plant, forcing a temporary suspension of work. Company officials confirmed the incident and said they were contacting the families of the abducted workers.

Immediately after the attack, security forces launched a search operation in the surrounding areas. Units of local police, levies, and the Frontier Corps Balochistan are participating in the operation to trace the attackers and recover the abducted workers.

Authorities have tightened security in the affected region and urged residents to report any suspicious activity. Officials said the incident appears to be part of a series of recent attacks targeting construction projects, laborers, and security personnel in Balochistan’s infrastructure zones.

Experts believe such attacks may be aimed at disrupting development projects and spreading fear in remote districts.
