Three security personnel were martyred on Tuesday when terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij targeted their vehicle with an improvised explosive device (IED) in Dera Ismail Khan. Sources also reported possible injuries, though details remain unclear.
Following the blast, personnel from security forces, police, rescue teams, and other law enforcement agencies reached the site, cordoned off the area, and began collecting forensic evidence. A search operation was also launched in surrounding areas.
The attack comes amid a surge in terrorist violence across southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In a separate incident earlier in the day, two traffic police officers were martyred in Lakki Marwat after being ambushed by terrorists.
Despite the continued threat, security forces remain actively engaged in counter-terror operations. In Lakki Marwat’s Sheeri Khel village, a search-and-strike mission led to the elimination of a khariji and recovery of arms and explosives, a timely intervention ahead of Muharram.
Meanwhile, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted an intelligence-based operation in Bannu, killing two wanted terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij. Both individuals were linked to multiple terrorism cases.
The back-to-back security actions reflect ongoing efforts to dismantle militant networks and safeguard the region despite persistent threats.
