A khawarij ambush attempt targeting a replacement party near Greendome in North Waziristan was decisively thwarted by Pakistani security forces on Sunday. According to technical intercepts, at least three khawarij were confirmed killed in the engagement, as per security forces’ counter-terrorism monitoring.

While retreating, khawarij opened fire on the Nazhmerai Post using small arms and RPGs from a vegetated spur to the east. The assault damaged the post’s thermal imaging camera. Captain Mehtab and Sepoy Luqman sustained ricochet stone injuries due to RPG impact but remained stable and continued fighting.

In response, Pakistani troops returned fire from the post, while artillery was deployed from Razmak and mortars were fired from Greendome. The ongoing khawarij fire is believed to be an attempt to cover the evacuation of their casualties.

Security officials confirm that retaliatory operations are ongoing and under control.
