Security forces successfully foiled a major suicide attack at the Frontier Constabulary (FC) Headquarters in Peshawar, neutralising three terrorists while tragically losing three FC personnel in the incident. Preliminary investigations reveal that the attackers attempted to infiltrate the headquarters from the cantonment side. The first suicide bomber, approaching on foot, detonated his device at 08:11 a.m., but heightened security measures and reinforced barriers prevented further penetration.
Investigators report that the terrorists operated in a coordinated and premeditated manner, with all three wearing suicide vests and targeting a parade in progress, during which approximately 450 FC personnel were present. The attackers’ companions faced determined resistance at the gate, where FC personnel displayed remarkable bravery. Subsequent attempts by other bombers to breach the premises were also successfully repelled.
Officials confirm that the suicide attack was carefully planned, with the attackers’ primary objective being disruption of the ongoing parade. The incident underscores the persistent threat posed by organised terrorist groups, as well as the vigilance and preparedness of Pakistan’s security forces.
Authorities emphasised that counterterrorism operations remain ongoing to prevent any further threats and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety of all personnel and civilians.
