In a deadly attack on the Kohat Lachi Road, terrorists opened fire on a police vehicle, resulting in the martyrdom of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ashfaq. Two other police officers, identified as Yasir Bilal and a member of the District Special Branch (DSB), were injured in the assault.
According to police sources, the incident occurred when the patrolling police vehicle was ambushed by armed terrorists. The exchange of gunfire lasted for several minutes before the attackers managed to flee the scene.
Local law enforcement swiftly responded to the situation, dispatching additional personnel to the site to conduct a thorough search for the assailants. The injured officers were immediately transferred to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, with the condition of the DSB officer described as critical.
Authorities have vowed to intensify operations in the area, promising a swift retaliation against the attackers. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the assault, but security forces are working on leads to identify and apprehend those responsible.
