Security forces carried out two successful operations in Bannu, destroying terrorist hideouts and killing at least 10 militants belonging to a banned outfit, security sources said.
According to officials, the first operation was conducted on intelligence-based information, targeting a key hideout of the Akhtar Muhammad group. During the operation, security personnel effectively engaged the militants, killing 10 terrorists and injuring several others. The hideout was completely destroyed, dealing a significant blow to the group’s operational capacity in the area.
In a separate action, security forces targeted another militant hideout in the jurisdiction of Bannu Cantt Police Station, in the Phatoona Momandkhel area. The facility was being used by terrorist commander Shah Jahan. Sources confirmed that the hideout was neutralised, further disrupting militant networks operating in and around Bannu.
Security officials said the coordinated actions reflect sustained intelligence coordination and improved ground presence aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They added that such operations are critical to preventing planned attacks and restoring a sense of security among local residents.
Meanwhile, the security situation in nearby Lakki Marwat remains tense following recent terrorist quadcopter attacks targeting a mosque and residential areas, which left police personnel and civilians injured. Heavy deployments of police and peace committees continue in the district, with operations underway and authorities urging citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
