A senior commander of the banned Hafiz Gul Bahadur group’s Jaish-e-Mukhlis Karwan network, identified as Marwan, was killed along with several associates in an attack in the Sheratla area of Mir Ali, North Waziristan, according to security officials.
Initial reports indicate that security forces swiftly cordoned off the neighbourhood after the strike, securing key entry and exit points to prevent militant escape routes. A search operation is underway to trace facilitators believed to be active in the vicinity, officials added.
Two days earlier, at least four top commanders of the same Hafiz Gul Bahadur group were killed in South Waziristan during an intelligence-based operation, which also eliminated several other militants. Security officials say the back-to-back actions reflect an intensified counterterror push in the region.
