Terrorism a Grave Global Threat, Says PM Shehbaz; Pakistan’s Armed Forces and Nation United Against Militancy

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that terrorism remains one of the most serious threats facing the world today, stressing that Pakistan’s armed forces and its people stand firmly united in their resolve to eradicate militancy.

The prime minister was addressing a ceremony in Islamabad held in honour of the birthday of the United Kingdom’s King Charles III. Shehbaz Sharif said it was a matter of honour for him to attend the event, describing King Charles III as a “symbol of public service and global awareness.” He noted that the monarch has played a meaningful role in fostering unity among Commonwealth nations.

Highlighting the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, the prime minister said that two million British citizens of Pakistani origin are serving across various sectors in the UK. He added that Pakistan, with British cooperation, has successfully completed historic projects in education, health, and skills development.

Earlier, British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, in her remarks, expressed heartfelt condolences over the recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan and reaffirmed that the United Kingdom “stands with the people of Pakistan” during these challenging times.

She added that the relationship between Pakistan and the UK is deep and enduring, noting that 15 parliamentarians of Pakistani origin are currently serving in the British Parliament.
