In two separate incidents of terror in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, unidentified gunmen targeted law enforcement officials, leaving at least three people dead and several others injured, according to police sources.
In Lakki Marwat, late Friday night, terrorists attacked the home of police constable Tufail in the area of Tabi Murad. The assailants opened indiscriminate fire, tragically killing Tufail’s father, Zaiqam Khan, on the spot. Constable Tufail himself escaped the attack unharmed. Police have launched a search operation in the area.
Meanwhile, in Dera Ismail Khan, gunmen opened fire on Excise Department officers having breakfast at a nearby Hotel on the Daraban Bypass. Two excise officials were killed in the ambush, while Hashim, the hotel owner, was reportedly injured in the crossfire.
Authorities have cordoned off both areas and an investigation is underway. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks so far.
These attacks mark yet another rise in targeted violence against law enforcement personnel in the region. Security forces have vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
