Militants carried out a cowardly quadcopter attack in Lakki Marwat district, injuring two police personnel in what officials described as a failed attempt to destabilize security in the area.
The wounded officers were immediately provided medical assistance and shifted to Khalifa Gul Nawaz (KGN) Hospital, where doctors confirmed that both were out of danger and receiving the best available treatment.
Following the attack, a heavy contingent of Lakki Marwat Police, Peace Committee members, and additional personnel from Bannu Police, backed by Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), rushed to the site on the directives of Bannu Region DIG Sajjad Khan.
A search and clearance operation was launched across the surrounding locality to trace the attackers and neutralize any remaining threat presence.
Drone Neutralized Mid-Operation
During the operation, police adopted what officials termed a timely and effective counterstrategy, successfully shooting down one of the militants’ quadcopters.
Security sources said the hostile drone was brought down shortly after police deployed their own surveillance drone, which proved highly effective in aerial monitoring and tactical coordination.
As police air surveillance intensified, militant drones reportedly disappeared from the airspace, indicating disruption of the attackers’ operational capability.
Officials further indicated that multiple militants were believed to have been injured in the retaliatory response, though verification efforts remain ongoing.
Senior Command Visits Injured Officers
DIG Bannu Region Sajjad Khan personally visited KGN Hospital to inquire after the injured personnel. He directed medical staff to ensure the provision of the best possible treatment facilities and remained briefed on their recovery.
Speaking on the occasion, the regional police chief stated that terrorist elements deserved no leniency and would be brought to justice at all costs.
He emphasized that the morale of the police force remained high and that such cowardly attacks could not shake their resolve.
Operations in the area, he added, would continue without interruption until complete restoration of peace and security.
