A major act of sabotage was averted near the Dwa Ghwara Bridge when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded prematurely during its installation, killing one terrorist instantly while his injured accomplice escaped towards a nearby residential locality, prompting security forces to launch an extensive search operation and seal off the entire area.
According to the preliminary report, the militants had planned to destroy the Dwa Ghwara Bridge using high-intensity explosives. The device detonated while being planted, resulting in the immediate death of one would-be bomber. His associate, though wounded, managed to flee into the surrounding population.
Police and security personnel reached the site within minutes, secured the area, and began collecting forensic evidence. The process of identifying the deceased militant is underway, while intelligence teams are working to trace the injured fugitive.
A coordinated search operation has been launched, with the locality placed under a strict cordon to prevent the suspect’s escape and ensure the safety of residents. Initial findings confirm that the bridge was the intended target of the aborted bombing attempt.
