Terror Attacks Leave Five Policemen Martyred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Militants launched deadly overnight assaults on police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, targeting two checkposts and a police station on the outskirts of Peshawar and ambushing a patrol vehicle in Lower Dir, and other region inclding Peshawar, leaving five policemen martyred and seven injured, officials said.

Police said that the first attack reported in Upper Dir, when armed miscreants attacked a police mobile in Upper Dir, as a result of which three police personnel were martyred and three others injured. The injured personnel were shifted to the nearby hospital, where they were provided emergency medical treatment.

The second incident occurred in the Lajbak area of Lower Dir, when armed militants attacked a police check post. As a result, a police personnel Sanaullah martyred. While another incident occurred Kulal Derai area, where police repulsed the attack, while miscreant elements escaped from the site.

Terrorists also launched an attack on Shada’s police, in which Constable Sultan Zarin sustained minor injuries.  Police foiled terrorist attacks with a timely and brave response. The Injured policeman was shifted to the hospital for treatment, a police source said.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Qasim Ali Khan said the attacks in Peshawar late Tuesday night struck the Matani Adezai and Nasir Bagh Sakhi Pul checkposts, as well as the Hassan Khel police station. Police repulsed the assaults on the two checkposts, but at Hassan Khel, one policeman embraced martyrdom and another sustained injuries.

In Lower Dir’s Panah Kot area, District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Bilal said terrorists ambushed a Police Quick Response Force mobile around 2am as personnel were returning to the police lines after routine night patrol duty. Describing the attackers as Fitna al-Khawarij, he said three policemen were martyred on the spot while six sustained injuries in the indiscriminate firing.

Police contingents cordoned off the targeted areas in both districts and launched search operations to track down the assailants. The injured were moved to local hospitals where emergency protocols were enforced.
