A terrorist attack on a funeral convoy in Baka Khel area of Bannu has left a four-year-old child dead and four women injured, authorities confirmed. The convoy was carrying the body of Badshah Mir Khan, a government contractor from Khadi in North Waziristan, who had passed away in Islamabad.
According to eyewitnesses, the convoy came under sudden gunfire by terrorists as it passed through the Baka Khel area. In the attack, the assailants also set fire to the ambulance transporting the body, completely destroying the vehicle.
This attack follows a recent similar incident in the same region, where the Assistant Commissioner of North Waziristan was killed and his vehicle was torched by terrorists.
Local residents condemned the attack, stating that these acts of terror demonstrate that the perpetrators represent neither Islam nor humanity. “Their actions are a grave example of hostility against humanity,” community leaders said.
Authorities have urged vigilance and reiterated that counter-terrorism operations will continue in the region to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent further attacks. Security agencies are investigating the incident, while measures have been intensified along key routes to ensure the safety of funeral convoys and civilians.
The attack highlights the ongoing security challenges in North Waziristan and Bannu, where terrorists continue to target both officials and civilians in acts of extreme violence.
