Khyber: Tensions escalated in the remote Tirah Valley of Khyber district after a violent altercation led to indiscriminate gunfire, leaving a woman seriously injured.
According to local sources, the incident unfolded when a heated verbal dispute broke out between a local resident, Ghairat Khan, and Maqsood, the brother of a militant commander identified as Shaheen. In a fit of rage, Maqsood opened fire, and Ghairat Khan’s mother was struck by a bullet during the chaos.
The injured woman was swiftly transported to a nearby medical facility where she is currently receiving treatment. The incident has sparked widespread fear and unrest in the already tense region.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the shooting. Residents have expressed growing concern over the rising influence of terrorist elements and the lawlessness in the area.
This comes just a week after a chilling triple murder in the Bar Qambar Khel area of the same valley, where a notorious foreign-backed commander, Rauf alias Khamim, allegedly abducted and executed three young men on suspicion of spying. One of the victims was the only brother to five sisters, and another had been recently married.
The back-to-back violent episodes have amplified fears among locals, with many calling on the government and security forces to restore order and safety in Tirah Valley.
