Tensions flared along the border in Tirah Valley after Afghan forces opened fire near the frontier, prompting a strong retaliation from Pakistani troops, security sources said.

The incident occurred in the vicinity of the border area, triggering heightened tensions across the region. Residents confirmed hearing intense shelling and the sound of heavy weapons during the exchange.

According to security officials, Pakistani forces responded promptly and effectively to what they described as a border violation, employing artillery to counter the firing.

Earlier, a similar situation had unfolded along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border at Landi Kotal in Khyber district, where Afghan Taliban allegedly initiated unprovoked firing.

Initial reports indicate that following the provocation, Pakistani troops launched an immediate and effective countermeasure, targeting enemy positions and silencing their artillery, restoring relative calm to the area.
