A tragic incident occurred in the Issuri village of Mir Ali, North Waziristan, where ten local children were injured after an old explosive device left behind by militants detonated. According to initial reports, the children found the unexploded device in the nearby hilly area, a location previously used as a hideout by the militants. Unaware of the danger, they began playing with the device, which triggered the explosion.
All injured children were rushed to a medical facility, where emergency teams began treatment immediately. Local officials noted that this area has witnessed similar incidents in the past due to explosive remnants of terrorism left behind by militant groups.
Residents say the blast is another painful reminder that the remnants of terrorism, particularly abandoned IEDs and unexploded ordnance, continue to pose a deadly threat to civilians. They added that the victims are often women and children, highlighting that the violence and disorder sown by such groups still haunt communities long after the militants have been pushed back.
