Iran has formally raised concerns with the United Nations over repeated strikes near the Bushehr nuclear power plant, warning of potential catastrophic consequences if attacks continue.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that multiple incidents near the facility have heightened the risk of radioactive leakage, posing a threat not only to Iran but to the wider Gulf region.
In a letter addressed to the UN, Iranian authorities highlighted what they described as the fourth such incident near the nuclear site, urging the international community to take immediate notice.
Araghchi also drew parallels with global reactions to past incidents near nuclear facilities, questioning whether similar concern would be shown in the current situation.
He warned that any radiation leak from Bushehr could have devastating consequences, potentially impacting multiple countries across the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Separately, the International Atomic Energy Agency has called for restraint, confirming that while recent activity caused minor damage, no radiation leak has been detected so far.
The situation remains highly sensitive, with growing fears that continued escalation could push the region toward an unprecedented environmental and humanitarian crisis.
