The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has claimed responsibility for a bold attack on a Taliban intelligence facility in Charikar, the capital of Parwan province, late Monday evening.
According to an official statement released by the AFF, the strike resulted in the deaths of two Taliban members and injuries to three others. Local sources in the region confirmed that an explosion occurred at a Taliban checkpoint in Charikar, aligning with AFF’s account of the incident.
The AFF also released video footage allegedly capturing the moment of the strike. In the clip, a powerful explosion is heard, followed by thick plumes of smoke rising from the area targeted.
Despite widespread circulation of the video and local confirmation, Taliban authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the attack as of Tuesday evening.
The AFF is one of several resistance groups that have continued to launch sporadic attacks against Taliban forces since the group’s return to power in August 2021. Monday’s attack underscores the persistent instability and armed resistance faced by the Taliban regime, even in provinces like Parwan.
