A coordinated terrorist attack on the Fateh Khel Police Post within the jurisdiction of Mandan Police Station was successfully repelled due to the timely, organized, and professional response of Bannu Police. The assailants, identified as militants affiliated with the outlawed “Fitna al-Khawarij,” were forced to retreat under pressure and fled the scene under the cover of darkness.
According to official reports, heavily armed militants launched an attack on the police post, triggering an intense exchange of fire that continued for approximately one hour. Police personnel responded with determination and tactical precision, effectively engaging the attackers and preventing any breach of the facility.
During the exchange, the assailants reportedly utilized elevated positions, including the rooftop of a nearby market and a private school building, to gain a tactical advantage. Police forces successfully targeted and neutralized these firing positions, disrupting the attackers’ strategy and forcing them into retreat.
Upon receiving information about the assault, District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu, Mr. Yasar Afridi, along with the SP Rural, SP Headquarters, SDPO Rural-II, SDPO City, SHO Mandan, and additional contingents from Police Lines, immediately rushed to the site. Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) and reinforcement units were swiftly deployed, strengthening the defensive perimeter and ensuring full operational control of the situation.
As a result of the coordinated and decisive counteraction, all personnel stationed at Fateh Khel Police Post remained completely safe. No casualties were reported among law enforcement officers.
Security in the area has since been significantly enhanced, and a comprehensive search operation is currently underway to locate and apprehend the fleeing militants. Law enforcement agencies remain vigilant and committed to eliminating any residual threat to public safety.
