A terrorist attack on the “Dharay Pul” police post was successfully thwarted by the quick and courageous response of Bannu police in the early hours of the night.
The incident took place at approximately 1:30 AM when a group of terrorists attempted to infiltrate the police post. According to eyewitness accounts and TI camera footage, three individuals were seen crawling toward the post, seemingly targeting the TI camera as part of a coordinated assault.
Alert police personnel responded swiftly to the suspicious movement. As the police engaged the suspects, additional attackers opened fire on the post from multiple directions. Despite the intensity of the attack, the officers held their ground with professional precision and repelled the assault without any casualties.
The attacking group, identified as part of the “Khawarij insurgents”, consisted of 18–19 armed militants on 8 motorcycles. The attackers’ plan was effectively dismantled by the police, forcing them to retreat.
Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, commended the bravery and swift response of his force, stating that their actions reflect the unwavering commitment of law enforcement agencies in the face of ongoing threats and their dedication to preserving peace in the region.
The successful defense of the police post stands as a testament to the vigilance and heroism of the officers stationed at the frontline.
