Security forces successfully thwarted a suicide vehicle-borne attack on the Malangi post in Mamund tehsil, Bajaur District, killing eight terrorists in a swift counter-operation while three soldiers sustained injuries, according to official sources.
The attempted assault was carried out using an explosives-laden vehicle targeting the security forces’ Malangi post. Alert troops on duty detected and engaged the attackers before they could reach their intended target, preventing what officials described as potentially heavy casualties and infrastructure damage.
During the ensuing exchange of fire, eight terrorists were neutralised. Security officials stated that prompt action and robust defensive measures significantly minimised losses on the forces’ side. Three soldiers were injured in the operation and were immediately shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.
Following the failed attack, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a comprehensive search and clearance operation to pursue fleeing terrorists and eliminate any remaining threats. Additional reinforcements were deployed to strengthen the security perimeter and reassure local residents.
Officials said the attack was aimed at undermining peace and stability in Bajaur and intimidating the local population. They reaffirmed that such acts of terrorism would be met with decisive force and that operations under the framework of the National Action Plan will continue until the complete eradication of terrorist elements from the region.
