A high stakes counterterrorism operation in the mountainous Katlang region of Mardan successfully neutralized multiple key terrorists, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Advisor on Information Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif announced. The operation was launched based on credible intelligence confirming terrorist presence in the area, which was being used as a hideout and transit point for militant activities.
Barrister Saif acknowledged reports indicating the presence of unarmed civilians in the vicinity during the operation. Expressing deep regret over the loss of civilian lives, including women and children, he described the incident as tragic and unintended, resulting from the neutralization of terrorist elements.
“The government stands in solidarity with the affected families in this hour of grief and extends heartfelt condolences,” he stated. He assured that immediate medical assistance is being provided to the injured, while compensation and support measures for the families of the deceased are being expedited.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to civilian safety, Barrister Saif emphasized that every effort is made to prevent collateral damage. However, he noted that complex terrain, the strategic use of civilian areas by terrorists, and the urgency of counterterrorism operations can sometimes lead to unforeseen consequences.
