In the wake of recent tensions between Pakistan and India, a new Gallup Pakistan survey reveals overwhelming public support for the country’s armed forces and political leadership. The survey, conducted nationwide, highlights a surge in national confidence and unity during a time of heightened regional strain.
According to the findings, 97% of Pakistanis rated the performance of the armed forces as excellent, applauding their decisive and firm response to Indian aggression. Furthermore, 93% of respondents said their opinion of the military had improved, marking a significant boost in public trust and respect following the conflict.
On the political front, 73% of citizens expressed satisfaction with the government’s overall handling of the situation, particularly its diplomatic efforts on the international stage. Only 12% took a neutral stance, indicating a strong nationwide consensus.
The survey also shed light on the public’s perception of major political parties. A clear 65% lauded the role of PML-N, calling it exemplary during the crisis. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) followed with a 60% approval rating, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) garnered praise from 58% of respondents.
Pakistanis also acknowledged the support of international allies during the standoff. China received the highest approval at 83%, followed by Turkey (76%), Saudi Arabia (75%), and Iran (71%). The United States, however, was praised by just 39%, reflecting more reserved sentiment toward Washington’s stance.
The survey paints a picture of a nation standing firmly behind its defenders and appreciative of diplomatic allies, showcasing unity and national pride in a time of trial.
