State Minister Warns Against Complacency in War on Terror

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has issued a stark warning that the global community will not remain immune if Pakistan falters in its war against terrorism, stressing that the consequences of inaction or failure will transcend national borders. Addressing a solemn gathering in Islamabad on Police Martyrs’ Day, Talal Chaudhry emphasized that terrorism cannot be vanquished through military efforts alone, and called for sustained political resolve. “Without political will, the war against terrorism cannot be won,” he said, pointing to the alarming surge in terror incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. “These provinces remain the epicentres of terrorism, and their governments must assume full responsibility. Continued inaction and irresponsibility in these regions is no longer acceptable.”

The minister highlighted the daily sacrifices being made by security personnel, revealing that Pakistan loses two to three officers and soldiers every day in the line of duty. “The uniform is a symbol of honour and obligation—it often becomes a shroud. These brave souls laid down their lives so that we could live safely,” he said, adding that the courage displayed by Pakistan’s police force has shattered all notions of complacency. “Our martyrs sacrificed their youth and tomorrows so the nation could have a future. We are the custodians of their legacy.”

Talal Chaudhry lauded the police for their unrelenting service in maintaining law and order under extreme circumstances. “From Muharram to Eid, from Independence Day to routine patrols in marketplaces and mosques—our police officers have embraced martyrdom to protect the public,” he remarked. “For every mother who sent off her son, and every child who watched their father leave for duty never to return, no compensation or package can measure up to that loss. These sacrifices are sacred.”

The minister underscored that terrorism remains at its peak in Pakistan and reminded the nation that over 90,000 lives have already been lost. “Peace has come at a monumental cost. Our martyrs did not fall in vain—they gifted us hope, resilience, and security.”

Turning to regional dynamics, Talal Chaudhry acknowledged the recent visit of the Iranian President and appreciated Tehran’s renewed commitment to work alongside Pakistan against terrorism. “A new chapter of cooperation between Pakistan and Iran has begun, with both nations united in purpose,” he said. “We expect a visible shift in Balochistan as a result of this collaboration.”

He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, particularly in Afghanistan. “We have sacrificed immensely for peace in Afghanistan our soldiers, resources, and people have borne the burden. We now look to Afghanistan to act responsibly. Disappointment is no longer an option.”

In a key policy development, the Minister of State announced that disparities in compensation packages between the police, Frontier Corps (FC), and Rangers have been eliminated. “Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi took a principled stand on this and personally engaged the Prime Minister to ensure uniformity in the Shuhada Package,” he stated. “Minister Naqvi has also bolstered the Islamabad Police with critical resources, significantly strengthening its operational capacity.”

Talal Chaudhry concluded with a pledge that Islamabad Police will be provided with further support to reinforce peace and ensure the safety of citizens. “We remain committed to equipping our forces with the tools they need to confront all threats, external and internal,” he said.
