A tense standoff between Bannu police and armed terrorists came to a halt after an exchange of fire that left one police official injured, while reports suggest several terrorists were also wounded.
The terrorists had stormed the Government Girls Higher Secondary School Amanullah Khan, taking students and staff hostage. Responding swiftly, military units arrived on the scene to support police in handling the crisis.
In a bid to avoid large-scale casualties, security forces opted for a strategic move, allowing the terrorists to escape in exchange for the safe release of the hostages. The militants fled the premises along with their injured accomplices, sparing the lives of the innocent students and school staff.
Following the safe recovery of the hostages, security forces and police have launched a comprehensive search operation to track down the fleeing terrorists and eliminate any remaining threat in the area.
